Like the title says, this page is literally just a catalog of my childhood dolls (or at least the notable ones). Like any self respecting little girl, I had TONS of Barbies when I was younger. But, I don't really feel like cataloging them and I also didn't have too much of an emotional attachment to them, so they're not going up on this page.
(Congrats, you've just learned two main American Girl fandom abbreviations).
The order of my next dolls is a little murky, but I know they were all secondhand. My mom used to stalk the Goodwill site to find dolls for me since the brand new ones are so expensive, and she managed to find me a Pleasant Company Kirsten and Pleasant Company Samantha. For those of you who don't know, Pleasant Company American Girl dolls are SUPER valuable in
the collecting world. The American Girl company was originally called Pleasant Company until Mattel bought it out in the late 90s. Pleasant Company dolls are higher quality and sometimes chubbier than the Mattel made dolls. Also, their vinyl faces are squishier and they have softer, thicker hair. Unfortunately, my Samantha suffers from Loose Legs Syndrome, so she can't stand on her own. Kirsten is fine (minus a choppy haircut) and both girls reside in a cabinet permanently. I always displayed them and never actually played with them.
The other secondhand dolls I got were Nicki Fleming (Girl Of The Year 2007) and Molly McIntre. Nicki has a very sparse wig and she's nearly bald (poor thing!), while Molly had a haircut
courtesy of her previous owner. At the time I didn't know that Nicki was Nicki (she came without her clothes or any identifying objects), so I named her Sam. A friend of mine gave her to me, while Molly came from Goodwill. I also have a Bitty Baby (an AG brand baby doll) from a thrift store, but I rarely played with her because I had less interest in baby dolls by the
time I got into AG. I also have one of the "pets" that AG sold, specifically Meatloaf (a little boxer style toy dog with a very unfortunate name).
I mainly made stop motions with my dolls, but they were horrible quality and as far as I know, only one "finished" stop motion still exists today. So, you guys aren't going to get to see it.
Soon I'll take some actual pictures of my girls, but in the meantime, enjoy stock photos of them!
First up is the American Girl dolls. I got my first AG doll when I was about 10 or 11, and I remember that even at the time I felt like I was "too old" for dolls. I had watched
a bunch of stop motions and AGMVs (American Girl Music Videos) on YouTube, and I really wanted an AG doll so I asked for one anyways. I can't remember if my first doll was my Just Like You or if it was Saige Copeland (Girl of The Year 2013). Either way, my first dolls were a JLY and the 2013 GOTY.
Update: Kirsten had a little photoshoot today, so her photo is now updated with one that was taken by me :)
