Matcha Latte Recipe
You will need:
- 1-2 teaspoons Matcha Powder
- Milk of your choice (I use whole milk)
- Sugar to taste
- 3-4 Tablespoons Hot Water
How to make your latte:
Matcha lattes are super easy to make. They're also a very forgiving recipe, because the measurements entirely depend on the size of glass that you'll be using.
I usually make my lattes in a travel cup and take them with me on the go, so I make enough to fill a 16 oz cup. For my lattes, I add 1-2 teaspoons of matcha powder, depending on the brand I happen to buy. Some brands are more potent than others, and that is partially due to the different "grades" of matcha that exist. After I add my matcha powder to a glass, I mix in a small amount of hot water, enough to dissolve the matcha powder into with minimal clumps. If you notice that your matcha tends to clump, try adding only enough water to make a smooth paste, and then slowly add more water while mixing. After that's done, you can either chill your matcha-water mixture, or you can go ahead and add your milk. If you'd like a hot latte, heat your milk up in advance. Otherwise, chill the matcha-latte mixture and add your cold milk to the chilled mix. Add your sugar to taste, and you're good to go. If you like ice in your drink, feel free to add that. I use an insulated travel mug, so I don't bother with ice.
Matcha lattes are one of those things that you have to experiment with to learn what you like. Everyone has different tastes. I tend to prefer a sweeter matcha, but some people like theirs less so. Do whatever works for you! :)
